If you’re interested in a career in healthcare, make your Christmas break count. Join us for one or two weeks of hospital shadowing experience in either Poland or Tanzania.

Our Christmas special, exclusively for 16-18 year olds, runs in both locations on the following dates – chose those that suit you best

Tanzania

This festive season why not step outside your comfort zone? There is no better way to ensure that your medical school application stands out from the crowd than getting some real-life hospital work experience overseas. You’ll also get a very real insight into your future career, before committing to years of study.

If you hate the cold, escape to tropical east Africa over your winter break. Come and spend time in a government hospital in the Morogoro region of Tanzania. You’ll have the privilege of shadowing experience doctors on the wards and in surgery. Observe doctors improvising due to a lack of resources, and understand the disparities in healthcare between the UK and rural Tanzania.

If you prefer your Christmas holidays winter wonderland style, join us in Warsaw, Poland. Our large partner hospital here has a vast range of departments, so you’re sure to see a real variety of cases! World-famous for pancreatic surgery, this hospital has an excellent reputation – and you can be part of it!

You’ll spend at least 23 hours a week shadowing experienced health professionals, and you can top up your knowledge at our regular Global Health Tutorials. These classes are designed to help you understand what you see at the hospital each day from a cultural, social and economic perspective.

When you’re not on placement, you’ll have plenty of time to explore the local area – whether you fancy heading out on safari in Tanzania or hitting the ski slope in Warsaw. You’ll live in our private Gap Medics accommodation, complete with a full staff team, and students from all over the world. Our awesome in-country staff will make sure that you don’t miss out on the festive fun while you’re away – there will be plenty of seasonal activities on the cards!
