Hospital doctor shadowing & global health experience programs.
Spring break is the perfect time to take a trip abroad as a high school student. And what better way to make it worth your while than to gain pre-med experience at the same time? We are so excited to share our spring break medical shadowing program for high school students.
This week-long program has been specifically designed to fit into your spring break. So while you may not get the full two-week experience of our summer programs, you still get valuable experience shadowing a doctor on hospital frontlines.
This program is similar to our full high school program, except that it has been condensed to fit into a high school student’s week of spring break.
You get to see what healthcare looks like from a global perspective, while experiencing a new culture, and getting to meet people from around the world.
We know you want to enjoy your spring break. Our program is both a social and academic experience, where you get the chance to see another country while staying ahead of the game when it comes to your pre-health education.
We have identified international hospitals and doctors within those hospitals who are wonderful partners for pre-med education programs. All you have to do is get here and we will take care of everything.
You will live in our Global Pre-Meds house with your peers and under the supervision of our staff, who will make sure all of your needs are met. You can read more about our programs for high school students here.
While you are at the hospital, you will be supervised by your mentor at all times. He or she will guide you through the hospital, answering all your questions as you observe interesting medical cases and surgeries.
Our students gain real insight into a typical day as a physician. This experience, like all of our Global Pre-Med programs, is strictly a medical observation opportunity. Our doctors were specially chosen for their medical expertise and passion for sharing that with motivated students. You can read more about what it’s like to shadow a doctor.
The main difference between our one-week, spring break medical shadowing program for high school students, and our other options is that you will simply have less time in the experience. You will receive a certificate upon completion of this program, as well a reference from us that verifies your clinical observation hours.
If you complete one of our two-week high school programs, you will also receive a personalized recommendation letter from your mentor. This is because in our two week program, where you complete 40 observation hours, mentors spend more time with you and can write a truly personal letter that speaks to your ability in the healthcare field.
One of the best things you can do in preparing for medical school is to gain clinical observation experience. Our one week spring break program will give you a realistic impression of life working in a hospital, which can help your application to medical school stand out.
Spaces are limited for this new spring break program. You can apply right now!
