Fancy a taste of the real Thailand? We have teamed up with the number one local tour operator to bring you a fantastic three-day, two-night weekend hill tribe trek. Learn to cook Thai village style with the locals, ride beautiful elephants and go zip lining through the jungle all for just £195 (US$325).

Elephant trekking!

On Friday afternoon you will be picked up from the Gap Medics house in an air-conditioned minibus, and driven out to a local village in the jungle covered hills of Chiang Mai. You will spend the evening meeting local village people who will teach you about their lifestyle and show you how to cook delicious Thai food from scratch. You will stay overnight at a friendly home stay along with a local family, other students and your guide.

You will wake up early on Saturday morning to a freshly prepared breakfast, before heading off to meet Thailand’s favourite animal – the elephant! You can help wash the elephants in the river before riding them across a scenic mountain route. After this, your guide will take you on a one-hour trek on foot, which will end at a beautiful secluded waterfall – the perfect place for a quick dip before lunch! After a tasty picnic, you will head off for an adventurous afternoon of white water rafting, followed by bamboo rafting back to camp. You will spend another night cooking dinner with the local village people, soaking up the community atmosphere.

After another hearty breakfast on Sunday morning, you will say goodbye to the local village people and head off for some zip lining through mountainous jungle. With breathtaking views of the countryside below and Chiang Mai city beyond, this is a perfect way to end your weekend.
