To make sure that this fantastic opportunity coincides with the half term of your school, Gap Medics have many dates available for you to join us on a programme. You can join us in your February Half Term:
- 9th February – 15th February 2014
- 16th February – 22nd February 2014
- 23rd February – 1st March 2014
February is a perfect time to get away and gain some beneficial hospital work experience in a new and exciting country. If you are in Sixth Form and hoping to apply to medical school – or have already applied – then our placements will give you that extra edge on other applicants, helping you to really stand out from the competition both on your personal statement and in interviews.
In 2013 alone, over 2,000 students are completing overseas hospital work experience placements with Gap Medics. But it’s not just all about the medical work experience; you will also be jetting off on the adventure of a lifetime, with lots to explore! This ranges from breathtaking safaris to visiting the paradise island of Zanzibar, where you can relax on the beautiful white sandy beaches or go swimming with dolphins in the crystal clear ocean.
Our Sixth Form Special takes place in Tanzania and includes a fully-supervised hospital placement, global health tutorials, safe and secure accommodation in our own student houses, delicious food cooked up by our very own caterers, airport pickup in Tanzania, local orientations, 24/7 support from our teams in Tanzania and the UK and lots of help with preparations for your trip.
In Tanzania, you will spend your time shadowing experienced healthcare professionals in a real-life hospital environment incomparable to any you would find back home in the UK. You will be assigned your own personal mentor, who will also be a healthcare professional and available to answer any questions you have whilst helping you make the most of your placement.
Working in hospitals in Tanzania, you will experience a tougher, and therefore, more varied approach to healthcare, which makes for a far more exciting and beneficial placement for those wanting to learn as much as possible. If five days of this is not enough, then you will also have the chance to attend three global health tutorials, which are run by your mentors and will allow you to discover a lot more about healthcare in Tanzania.
Whether you just want to find out a bit more about becoming a doctor, nurse, midwife or dentist, or want to delve right into it and gain as much experience as possible in preparation for medical school, this one-week intensive placement will be nothing short of an eye-opener. Places for our Sixth Form Half Term Specials fill up extremely quickly, so we advise that you book as soon as you can to avoid missing this brilliant opportunity that any aspiring medic should grab with both hands.
Another great thing about February is that flights are a lot cheaper than many other times of the year – especially from the UK! We would hate for you to miss out on this opportunity, so why not Book Now.
