Shadowing a DoctorDecember 9, 2013
Join other first year medical school students this easter break in Iringa, Tanzania for some unforgettable hospital work experience!
This easter Gap Medics will be bringing together first year medical students from across the UK and immersing them in hospital work experience overseas. This once in a lifetime opportunity will bring like-minded students together to gain a two week observational placement in Iringa, Tanzania.
Gap Medics provide overseas medical work experience in Africa, Asia and Central Europe. We have been working with hospitals and government officials since we launched our sister company in 2005. With years of experience behind us, we really know how to deliver exciting and meaningful hospital placements.
While on placement in Iringa you will gain a minimum of 23 shadowing hours each week at the Iringa Regional Hospital. This will include, but is not limited to attending the hospitals morning meetings, joining the specialist on their daily ward rounds where you will be involved in bedside learning, also depending on the departments you are placed you will also get the opportunity to enter theatre and witness various surgeries, you will even get the chance to see circumcisions and c-sections! The hospital placement is what you make of it – If you are pro-active, ask questions and are open minded you will gain a lot from this experience. Being able to see healthcare in a different country is an invaluable experience that you should grab with both hands. It makes for an interesting comparison to healthcare in the UK which will broaden your horizons for the future.
