Paediatrics deals with the physical, emotional, and social health of children from birth to young adulthood. Paediatricians are involved not only with the physical well-being of their patients but also with the early detection, prevention and management of behavioural, developmental and functional social problems of their young wards while keeping in mind the biological, social, and environmental influences on the developing child as well as with the impact of dysfunction or disease on development.

Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine – A Neonatologist is responsible for caring for critically ill newborns, particularly premature infants. These specialists diagnose and treat newborns with conditions that range from infections and breathing disorders to birth defects. They are responsible for medically managing premature, critically ill newborns and treating and stabilising newborns with any life-threatening medical problems and those in need of surgery immediately after birth. These specialists work mainly in newborn intensive care units of hospitals or special care nurseries.
